New Faces, New Friends

It was great to see some FReepers and meet other conservatives at Thursday's Young Republican's meeting.

The speakers were author Max Boot, journalist Azi Paybarah and writer J. R. de Szigethy. Check out my meeting notes and then add this monthly meeting to your calendar, second Thursday of each month. There's always a gathering afterwards, and if you have trouble making the Happy Hours, this is an excellent use of your time. (There is no age limit; the attendance is very diverse.)

Tuesday Happy Hour

Looking forward to seeing a few new faces at this Tuesday's Happy Hour in midtown near 53rd and 3rd (details TBA). Don't feel bad if the holidays are keeping you away from events. I'm very proud of you for getting on the ping list and your desire to meet other FReepers. We'll have a great time together in the coming months!

December Happy Hours: Mark your calendars (Locations to follow)

DECEMBER 2006 EVENTS

We're having three Happy Hours this month; the first two will piggy-back on other events. *

Feel free to arrive early. Remember, alcohol is optional.

Monday, Dec. 11, 7:00 PM until at least 9:00 PM (Please start without Silly, as we may attend another event and show up late). FReepers will be there by 7 PM to meet you (if you can commit to being there on time, raise your hand). Location (to be announced Sunday) will be near 13th or 14th Streets / 5th Avenue.

Thursday, Dec. 14, 6:00 PM to 7:25 PM. Location (TBA) will be in or near Grand Central Terminal. Following, you are encouraged to attend the NYCYR meeting, from 7:30 to 9:30 PM, with guests Dick Morris and Max Boot, followed by another social period. For details, visit the Web site of New York Young Republican Club, Inc.

Tuesday, Dec. 19, 6:30 PM to at least 9:00 PM. Location (TBA) will be near 53rd Street and 3rd Avenue.

JANUARY 2007 EVENTS

Because of the Free Republic party on New Year's Day at 2:30 PM hosted by the Tri-State Chapter, we will schedule that month's first Happy Hour for the week of the 15th. You will be pinged with details; please plan to attend the New Year's Day party.

* WHY ARE WE PIGGY-BACKING ON OTHER EVENTS?
1] To maximize turnout for all events; 2] to maximize use of your time; and 3] to avoid conflicts between events.

We're back, and we're ready to celebrate!

Ladies and gentlemen of Free Republic:

The Manhattan FReeper Happy Hour is back, and FReepers in the NY/NJ area are once again invited to participate. Don't let our classy new logo intimidate you -- these are "come-as-you-are" events, and no black tie is required!

We will meet when we can in Manhattan, after workdays or on weekends, for a pint, a burger, a soda, or whatever you fancy. Friendship is the purpose, and we will meet where prices are low to reasonable to accommodate as many as possible. Each event will begin with cocktails/beverages (drop-ins welcome) and continue with food (R.s.v.p. requested).

History: We began the MFHH after September 11, 2001 to support each other and build friendships during a difficult time. Our two meetings were at O'Lunney's and Rive Gauche, in Sept. and Oct. 2001.

To be notified of events, FReepmail Silly. If you'd like to host events when I am unable to, please be my guest and let me know the details. I'll maintain a ping list and keep the group notified.

I'm looking forward to meeting many old and new friends.

Still being,

Silly

p.s. Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and everyone Wang Chung!
